Ken Hart is beginning his 28th year as a member of the Richmond Athletic Department. Hart manages the day-to-day operation of the Equipment Room for the University's 19 varsity sports and its nearly 500 student-athletes.

A 1975 graduate of Bowling Green State University, Hart came to Richmond after a two-year stint as the equipment manager at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Prior to that, he spent three years in the same position at Ashland (Ohio) University.

Hart, who was recognized as the Glen Sharp Equipment Manager of the Year in 1993, is a 32-year member of the Athletic Equipment Managers Association. He served as its president for six years from 1988 to 1994 and was involved in the creation of the degree of certification for athletic equipment managers.

Hart resides in Richmond with his Peggy. They have two sons -- Tyler, a Richmond grad, and Kip.
