University Park, Pa., April 26, 2005 ¨C Finishing the season with a 7-11 mark, 2-8 in the Big Ten, the Penn State women's tennis squad enters the Big Ten WomenĄŻs Tennis Championships as the No. 8 seed. They will travel to East Lansing, Mich. on Thursday, April 28 for the first match of the tournament against No. 9 seed Ohio State at 10 a.m. The Nittany Lions earned a victory over Ohio State earlier in the season. Although they lost the doubles point, senior Maaria Husain (Marion, Ohio) led the squad to a 4-3 win. At No. 1 singles, Husain defeated Emily DeCamilla, 2-6, 7-5, 6-3. The Nittany Lions later went on to win at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6, with sophomore Andreea Niculescu (Montreal, Quebec), sophomore Katelyn BeVard (McLean, Va.), and freshman Jenny Schular (Peachtree City, Ga.) scoring points for Penn State. The winner of the match will go on to face No. 1 seed Northwestern on Friday at 10 a.m. The Wildcats have not yet lost a match to a conference opponent.
