Letters from the Windy City No. 4: Preparing for Chinese Taipei, TLC Gives the Bandits a Makeover

Greetings from Chicago,

Well our weekend in Boston didn¡¯t pan out quite the way we had planned. We had weather woes to say the least. We were rained out Thursday, played 6 innings Friday, rained out Saturday, and then we had to finish Friday¡¯s game and also play a double-header on Sunday. Countless mosquito bites later, we ended the weekend 2-1.

This past weekend, I had a great surprise while playing the New England Riptide. One of Penn State¡¯s greatest softball supporters made her way to the field. I won¡¯t mention any names, but it sure meant a lot to see a familiar face, thanks again!

This past weekend I got my first pitching win. I came in relief for Amy Harre (Southern Illinois University) and as a team we put together a great win! Being a relief pitcher is a difficult challenge at this level. There hasn¡¯t been a time when I¡¯m called to pitch and my heart isn¡¯t in my throat! The thrill of the game is what I love the most so I really do enjoy my role on our pitching staff.

Lights, Camera, Action¡
The Learning Channel was at our practice today filming for A Makeover Story! Tomorrow we have the revealing party, which is when we will see the three Chicago Bandits who had their TLC makeover. I had no idea how much went into the taping of the show. The executive producer said you can catch the Chicago Bandits makeover in February, not specifically sure of the date just yet¡

We have an entire week of practice this week before playing Chinese Taipei this weekend. My parents are making their way from Minneapolis over to Chicago for the game. It¡¯s their first time seeing me in orange and black, but I¡¯m sure they¡¯ll still be sporting blue and white!

More later¡

For the Glory,
Missy
