Kicks for Cancer Penn State Clinic Brochure STATE COLLEGE, Pa., March 30, 2005 - The Penn State women's soccer team will participate in the Inaugural SHUT-OUT Cancer College Soccer Classic on Saturday, April 2, 2005. The event combines the Women's ninth annual KICKS Against Breast Cancer Intercollegiate Soccer Tournament and the men's first annual Shut-Out Cancer College Soccer Festival. "We are excited to be part of such a great event as the SHUT-OUT Cancer College Soccer Classic," said Penn State head coach Paula Wilkins. "We have been involved with the Kicks Against Breast Cancer program for several years, and are excited to continue our participation with our clinic on April 16. Additionally, we are thrilled to be able to play against such great competition this weekend while raising money for such a great cause." Eighteen of the top men's and women's Division I soccer programs will compete at the Northrop Fields at SAC/HC Covenant Park soccer complex in Columbia, Md., to raise awareness of cancer and money for the fight against cancer. Proceeds from the weekend will be divided between the Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource and Image Center at the Howard County General Hospital (Columbia, Md.) and the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults, named for former SAC player and Brown University athlete Doug Ulman, who is a three-time cancer survivor. Both funds provide support for cancer patients and their families. The KICKS Against Breast Cancer Tournament raised $44,000 last year, bringing the event's eight-year total to more than $295,000 in donations and fund-raising efforts by participating teams. Penn State's annual Kicks Against Breast Cancer Clinic, which will benefit the Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource and Image Center, will be held on April 16 at the Lady Lion soccer practice field. Please check back to GoPSUsports.com next week for more registration information on Penn State's clinic.
