Women's Gymnastics Heads To Big Ten Championships

University Park, Pa., March 23, 2006 ¨C The 16th-ranked Penn State women's gymnastics team heads to East Lansing, Mich., and the campus of Michigan State University to participate in the 2006 Big Ten Championships on Saturday, March 25 at 7:00 p.m.

At The Big Ten Championships
? Penn State fell to Michigan by the slimmest margin in Big Ten Championships history last year, 196.250-196.125. The win would have been the first conference title in womenĄŻs gymnastics for Penn State. Then-senior Kate Stopper claimed the floor title with a 9.850 and former Nittany Lion gymnast Kristal Uzelac scored a career-high 39.425 to tie for second in the all-around. Uzelac took home the bars crown with a career-high-tying 9.925 and finished first on the beam with a career-high 9.950 as the last competitor on the last event.

Last Time Out
Penn State recorded its second-highest score of the year with a 196.400 to 189.750 victory at Pittsburgh on March 18. Senior Jennifer Orlando finished first in the all-around with a 39.175, her second-highest all-around score of the season. A Nittany Lion gymnast finished atop each of the four individual event results, with senior Lisa Clark taking home the vault title with a 9.875. Freshman Katie Perret grabbed her third bars crown of the season with a career-high 9.925 as junior Stephanie Sullivan posted a season-high 9.875 to earn the beam title. Clark and sophomore Aslynn Satterfield both scored a season-high 9.900 to tie for first on the floor.
