UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; March 30, 2006 - The Penn State field hockey team is gearing up for its May trip to Australia and is holding a fundraiser to raise money for the trip. The event, called "An Evening Under the Southern Stars," will be held Friday, April 7 in Robb Hall in the Hintz Family Alumni Center. There will be music, dancing, Hors d'oeuvres and an open bar. In addition, there will be a silent auction that includes items such as signed memorabilia from Ben Roethlisberger and the New York Yankees, four signed Richard Bollinger Penn State prints, a bus trip to New York City, and Joe Paterno autographed items. Head coach Char Morett said she is excited about the opportunity the players have to test their skills in Australia. "I think the opportunity to travel abroad and see field hockey played at such a high level in a country like Australia is phenomenal," she said. "It's a great way to see how hockey is revered in other countries and played by all ages from children to grandparents." The cost of the event is $130 per couple and $65 per person. To RSVP for the event, contact assistant coach Lisa Love at 814-863-7468 or lmb10@psu.edu. For anyone unable to attend donations can still be sent to Penn State Field Hockey, 112 BJC, University Park, Pa., 16802.
