The U.S. Olympic Trial/North American Cup Open continues this weekend at the Convention Center in San Jose, Calif., with the men's and women's foil and the women's epee scheduled for Jan. 16-18. The Penn State women's fencing team will send three of its fencers to compete in the national tournament, where they will attempt to score points toward selection to the U.S. National Team. Standout freshmen Sophia Hiss (Oklahoma City, Okla.) and Case Szarwark (Nashville, Tenn.) will both make the trip west to compete in the women's foil and the women's epee, respectively. Defending National Champion Katarzyna Trzopek (Warsaw, Poland) will also compete in the women's epee in the event.
