Twenty Swimmers Earn Academic All-Big Ten Honors

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. ¨C Penn State¡¯s swim program, headed by Bill Dorenkott, earned 20 Academic All-Big Ten honorees. In all, six male swimmers and 14 female swimmers earned honors.

The large number of Big Ten honorees, adds to the long list of accolades achieved by the swim program during the 2001-2002 season. The women¡¯s team won their first Big Ten Championship, while the men earned their fifth straight top five Big ten finish. The women sent a record number of swimmers to the NCAA Championships (12) and the men earned their highest NCAA finish (15th). By season¡¯s end the program set 17 new school records, had 14 swimmers make the All-Conference team and had two student-athletes earn All-American honors (Corrie Clark and Steve Bohner).
