MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Feb. 26, 2005) - Senior Daryl Northrop (Verona, N.J.), sophomore Dan Kaiserian (Radnor, Pa.) and freshman Sean Biedermann (Colorado Springs, Colo.) all placed in three events to help the Penn State men's swimming and diving team finish eighth at the Big Ten's Swimming and Diving Championships. All three placed in the consolation finals of the 100-yard freestyle as Northrop took 12th (44.82), Kaiserian finished 13th (45.14) and Biedermann placed 16TH (46..00). All three also helped the 400 freestyle relay team along with senior Patrik Johansson (Lund, Sweden) take ninth in 2:59.32, which is an NCAA "B" cut time. Junior Shawn McLin (Sinking Spring, Pa.) finished 15th in the 200 backstroke in 1:49.94. Sophomore Pat Healy (Philadelphia, Pa.) captured 14th in the 1,650 freestyle in 15.43.66, while freshman Kyle Miranda (Louisville, Pa.) was sixth and junior Chris Ippoliti (Berwyn, Pa. was eighth in the 200 breaststroke in 2:00.42 and 2:01.51, respectively. Freshman Brad Roth (Kutztown, Pa.) was also ninth in the 200 butterfly in 1:49.17.
