Lion Men Take Eighth Place at the 2006 Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships

Day Three Results

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.; Feb. 25, 2006 - The Penn State men's swimming and diving team capped off the 2006 Big Ten Men's Swimming and Diving Championships in eighth place with 186 points. Indiana finished first with 760.5, followed by Minnesota with 652 and Michigan with 525.

The final night of Big Ten Championship competition began with freshman David Kraft (Vienna, Va.) placing 16th in the 1,650-yard Freestyle with a time of 15:38.32.

Freshman Pat Schirk (Pottstown, Pa.) finished seventh in the 200-yard Backstroke with an NCAA "B" cut time of 1:46.17. In addition, senior Shawn McLin (Sinking Spring, Pa.) and freshman Ryan DeWeese (Midlothian, Va.) finished 11th and 14th with times of 1:48.73 and 1:49.97, respectively.

Additionally, sophomore Sean Swanepoel (KZN, South Africa) and junior Daniel Kaiserian (Radnor, Pa.) captured 12th and 14th in the 100-Yard Freestyle consolation race, respectively. Swanepoel finished with a time of 44.81. Kaiserian finished in 45.14.

Sophomore Kyle Miranda (Louisville, Colo.) took 13th in the 200-yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:01.39.

The 400-yard Freestyle Relay team comprised of McLin, Kaiserian, Swanepoel and sophomore Sean Biedermann (Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished eighth with an NCAA "B" qualifying time of 2:59.37.
