State College, Pa. November 15, 2002 - With a Big Ten Conference Championship still within reach, four Nittany Lions were honored by the Big Ten Conference at last night's tournament banquet. Senior Brent Jaquette (Wallingford, Pa.) and sophomore Chad Severs (Ocean City, N.J.) were each named to All-Big Ten First Team, while Gabe Bernstein (Maplewood, N.J.) and David Walters (Hunlock Creek, Pa.) took home second team honors.
Jacquette was named to the first team for the second time this season after starting 19 games for the Nittany Lions, where he netted both a pair of goals and assists. During Jacquette's stellar career, the Nittany Lions have posted a mark of 58-22-4. Severs earns first team honors after taking home the Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Year a season ago. This season, the sophomore forward has led the Nittany Lions with 13 goals and also leads the squad with 28 points. Gabe Bernstein was rewarded for his consistent level of play this season in earning second-team honors. The sophomore New Jersey native has recorded a pair of goals and assists from his midfielder spot this season. Walters, a highly-touted true freshman, earned second-team honors after starting every game this season, where he notched a goal and picked up a pair of assists. The Nittany Lions will look to keep their championship hopes alive tonight when they take on Indiana in the Big Ten Conference Tournament semi-finals. Game time is set to kick-off at 5:00 p.m. (ET).
