2006 U.S. Men's Lacrosse Team Announced

BALTIMORE, Md., June 17, 2005 - Former men's lacrosse goalkeeper Chris Garrity was named to the 2006 U.S. Men's Lacrosse team, which was announced recently by a 24-person selection committee. The team will represent the United States in the 2006 International Lacrosse Federation World Championships held in London, Ontario.

Garrity, a 2003 graduate, is in his third season with the Boston Cannons in the MLL. He currently leads the league with a 62.0 save percentage helping the Cannons to a 3-0 start.

In his senior season at Penn State, Garrity led the Nittany Lions to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in school history. He accumulated a .570 save percentage and jumped to fifth place on the Penn State career saves list with 444 saves in his four-year tenure with the Lions. Garrity earned the George Pittinger, which is given to the most outstanding senior and was named the Friends of Penn State Lacrosse Most Valuable Player Award. He was named second team All-Eastern College Athletic Conference and was honored as ECAC Defensive Player of the Week two times in the 2003 season. The U.S. has won eight of the nine ILF world championships contested, including six consecutive titles.
