STATE COLLEGE, Pa., January 25, 2001 - Penn State men's gymnast sophomore Kevin Donohue (Saddle River, N.J.) was named Big Ten Athlete of the Week which was announced by the conference office. This is the first time a Nittany Lion has earned the honor this season. Donohue earns the recognition for the first time in his career after winning the all-around title at the West Point Open last weekend, his first-career appearance in the event. He also nabbed first-place finishes on the floor (9.050), vault (9.250) and high bar (8.850). His first-place honors this week brings his total individual wins to six in just two meets. Donohue also won the high bar and floor exercise against Massachusetts during the opening week of the season. He currently ranks fifth nationally in the all-around. The Penn State men's gymnastics team is in action this Saturday, January 27 against Army in Rec Hall at 7 p.m. The Lions will be raising the 2000 NCAA Championship banner prior to the start of this weekend's meet. --LIONS--
