UNIVERSITY PARK, PA., Feb. 27, 2007 - The Penn State basketball team (10-17; 1-13 Big Ten) will close out its 19-game home schedule Wednesday when the Nittany Lions take on Iowa (16-12; 8-6 Big Ten), winners of five of their last seven, Wednesday in the Bryce Jordan Center. The game will tip-off at 7:00 p.m. and air nationally on ESPNU. It can also be heard live on the Penn State Sports Network. The radio broadcast will also be streamed live to www.GoPSUsports.com that will also feature a link to Gametracker. Steve Jones and Dick Jerardi will call the action. Penn State is coming off a 68-50 loss to Illinois at home on Saturday. Nittany Lion junior Mike Walker (Lewisberry, Pa.) led Penn State with 14 points and six assists and committed just one turnover playing 35 minutes at point-guard in place of injured senior Ben Luber (Richboro, Pa.). Luber had his sprained left wrist placed in a cast immediately following the game and it is doubtful he will be able to return to action before the end of the season. Junior forward Geary Claxton (West Haven, Conn.) is one of two Big Ten players to rank in the top five in scoring (16.2) and rebounding (8.1) in the conference. Iowa posted a 78-59 win over Purdue in Iowa City last Wednesday and has had a week off to prepare for Penn State. The Hawkeyes stand tied for the fourth best record in Big Ten play with an 8-6 conference mark. Senior guard Adam Haluska leads the Big Ten averaging 20.4 points per game and has scored 24 and 29 points in his last two outings against Penn State while hitting 10-of-17 threes. Penn State will wrap up its 2006-07 regular season Saturday at Indiana in an 8:00 p.m. tip televised by ESPN Regional. Indiana, which won 84-74 earlier this year in the Jordan Center, are 18-9 on the year and have an 8-6 conference record.
