STATE COLLEGE, Pa., June 12, 2002 - Penn State junior center fielder Wes Reohr (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) was named a Third Team All-America by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association after a break-through season in 2002. Reohr is the 12th Nittany Lion to earn the prestigious honor in the program's storied history. The most recent Penn State players to garner All-America honor were Michael Campo and Shawn Fagan. Campo earned first team honors while Fagan was named to the second team following a phenomenal 2000 campaign, which saw the Nittany Lions post, a school-high 45 wins. Reohr, who was previously named the NCBWA District I Player of the Year, led the squad this past season boasting a .393 average, which was fifth in the Big Ten Conference, and nine home runs. His team-leading 75 hits ranks third all-time in single season base knocks at Penn State and was good for a seventh place tie in the league play. The Ed Drapcho Award winner, which is given to the team's most improved player, finished second on the club this past season in doubles (11), RBI (38), and runs scored (49). Reohr also was the team leader in multi-hit games with 25 and multi-RBI games with 12. His season-high performance came on April 16 where he belted a pair of homers going 2-for-4 with a double, four RBI, while scoring two more runs in Penn State's 10-7 loss at Maryland. He also strung together a pair of four-hit contests going 4-for-4 in Penn State's 10-7 win over Navy and also going 4-for-5 in Penn State's thrilling 14-9 win at Indiana. Penn State finished the 2002 season with a 23-30 mark and an 11-19 record in the Big Ten Conference. --Lions--
