Alan Stidfole Joins Twin Brother in Toronto Organization

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; June 8, 2006 - The disappointment of not being drafted in Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft did not last long for Alan Stidfole as the senior left-handed pitcher today signed a free agent contract with the Toronto Blue Jays. The ace of this year's Penn State pitching staff, Alan will join his twin brother Sean in the Toronto organization. Sean was a 14th round pick of Toronto in last year's draft and is currently pitching with the Lansing Lugnuts of the Low Class A Midwest League.

Alan was Penn State's Friday starter for the entire season and led the team with 10 quality starts on the year. He started 14 games and went 3-5 with a team-best 4.06 ERA. He also led the team in innings pitched with 93 and was second in strikeouts with 76. A third team All-Big Ten selection for the second straight year, Stidfole earned his third career Big Ten Player of the Week award after throwing a complete-game, seven-hitter against Northwestern in which he allowed just one run and struck out five.

Not only will Alan join his twin brother Sean in the Toronto organization, but he will also join another former teammate in pitcher Aaron Tressler, who was a 32nd round pick by the Jays in 2004 and is also currently pitching for Lansing. Sean is currently 4-2 with a 2.84 ERA in 25.1 innings with the Lugnuts while Tressler is also doing well with a 2-2 mark and a 1.65 ERA in 43.2 innings.
