University Park, Pa. June 13, 2006 - Jumpers Ryan Fritz (Parkesburg, Pa.) and Clarence Smith (Coatesville, Pa.) will compete next week at the USATF Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Indianapolis, Ind., from June 21-25. The meet will showcase talented contenders for the US National team which will compete for the World Championships in Beijing.

Fritz, who will compete in the high jump, came in as a highly touted freshman. He proved himself as a major contributor to the team, scoring consistently in the high jump. He was an All-Big Ten second teamer during the indoor season and an NCAA Regional qualifier in outdoor track. Smith, who will compete in the triple jump, regularly scored in that event and holds the best mark of the season in that event for the Lions. The pair will be competing against top-level competition, including some athletes they have faced in NCAA competition.
