Austin, Texas, June 11, 2004 - Penn State senior Connie Moore (Chicago, Ill.) claimed seventh in a very fast 100-meter final Friday night at the 2004 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by the University of Texas. Now a 10-time All-American, Moore posted a time of 11.37 and was just edged out of a top three finish in a very tight field. Miami's Lauryn Williams, who defeated Moore for the 2004 East Region title, won the NCAA title in a time of 10.97, second only to her wind-aided preliminary time of 10.94 in the world this year. A three-time Big Ten Champion in the event, Moore earned her third All- America honor at 100 meters, having also finished fifth in 2003 and ninth in 2002. She closes her collegiate career in the 100 as the Penn State record holder with a mark of 11.21. The 2004 Mid-Atlantic and Big Ten Outdoor Track and Field of the Year, Moore will finish her storied collegiate career Saturday night at 9:15 p.m. (ET) in the 200-meter final. The two-time East Regional Champion at 200 meters, she is among the favorites to win the NCAA title in the event.
