Bloomington, Ind.-The Penn State Men's Track Team is in sixth place at the Big Ten Championships with 25.50 points after two days of competition at the Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex at the University of Indiana. The Badgers of Wisconsin lead the competition with a score of 53, with Purdue nipping at their heels with 45 points. Ohio State stands at third with 40.50 points, followed by Minnesota (31) and Iowa (28). Penn State leads host Indiana by 5.50 points, with Michigan and Michigan State bringing up the rear. Penn State's biggest point scorer so far is senior Gregg Davis (Newton, Pa.). Davis notched 6 points for the Nittany Lions with his third place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase, crossing the line in a time of 9:02.11. The Lions got points from two members in the long jump Ryan Olkowski (Jr., Baltimore, Md.) finished fourth and got 5 points for his 23'04.75" effort, while Leon Woolford (So, Philadelphia, Pa.) got one point for his leap of 22'08.00. Olkowski would also score 1.50 points in the high jump, tying for seventh with a jump of 6'08.25". Freshman Terrence Glover (Trenton, NJ) finished fifth in the discus with a throw of 167'01.00", good for 4 points. On Friday, James Carney (Gr., South Park, Pa.) notched 4 points for the Lions with his fifth place finish in the 10,000 meters. Carney finished in a time of 30.00.81. The Big Ten Outdoor Championships wrap up Sunday from Bloomington, with men's action scheduled to begin at 12:30 central time.
