May 12, 2002 - The Penn State men's track team claimed three event titles and posted numerous high placings Saturday at the James Madison Invitational in Harrisonburg, Va. Senior Ryan Olkowski led the way on the day as he won the 200 meters in an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 20.76. Olkowski led three Penn State men in the top five in the event as Greg Miller took fourth (21.55) and Ernie Terrell was fifth (21.69). Olkowski also placed third in the high jump with a height of 6-10 3/4 on the day just ahead of teammate Chavous Nichols in fourth with the same mark. Nichols also took third in the triple jump (52-4) and sixth in the long jump (23-6) on the day. Sophomore Brian Stumpf led three men in the top six in the javelin as he posted a winning mark of 197-6. Matt Moyer and Kyle Wintersteen finished second and sixth, respectively. Penn State also got a victory on the day from the 4X400 relay team which won in a time of 3:13.36. The Lions 4X100 relay team took second in 40.97. The Lions dominated the pole vault as four men placed second through fifth in the event. Dave Bollinger led the way with a mark of 15-9, good for second. He was followed by Nick Fegley, Steve Carlucci and Tyler Hershey. Senior Dorian Lowe finished second in the hammer throw with a mark of 172-6 1/2. Aaron Ross finish sixth in that event (160-3 1/5) and also in the discus (146-11 1/4). Jaret Campisi was fourth in the 400 hurdles in a time of 54.32, while John McGrorey was fourth (9:16.24) and Gregg Davis seventh (9:21.27) in the 3,000 meter steeplechase.
