PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College cross country junior Mary Cullen (Sligo, Ireland) was named Division I Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Female Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, September 16.

Cullen, who garnered All-America accolades in 2002, earned the ECAC honor by helping the sixth-ranked Friars finish first of 10 teams at the Boston College Select Meet on Friday, September 12 at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. Cullen ran the 5,015-meter course in a time of 17:01, placing first ahead of classmate Kimberly Smith (Auckland, New Zealand), who finished second in a time of 17:02.

Providence, which has won its first two meets of the 2003 season, will return to competition on Saturday, September 27 at Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn.
