PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College volleyball sophomore middle blocker Jeanette Toney (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was named the Division I National Independent Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, October 4, for her performance last week.

Toney hit .390 and averaged 3.71 kills per game totalling 52 in four matches. She also had 11 total blocks averaging .79 per game. Toney registered double-figure kills in three of the four matches the Friars played in, including a game and career-high 24 kills and six blocks in a 3-2 win over Howard.

In addition to putting up solid numbers last week, Toney earned her fourth All-Tournament honors this season being named to the UMES Comfort Inn Classic All-Tournament team. Toney also has been named to the Hartford Invitational, the Friar Volleyball Classic and the Sacred Heart/Asics Invitational All-Tournament teams.

Providence will host the University of Rhode Island on Wednesday, October 4 at 6:00 p.m. The Friars will then travel to Quinnipiac on Wednesday, October 11 for a match at 7:00 p.m.
