Volleyball Wins Third Straight With 3-2 Come From Behind Victory Over ST. Peter's

Jersey City, N.J. - The Providence College volleyball rallied from a 2-0 deficit and won the next three to win the match 29-31, 23-30, 30-28, 30-22 and 15-12. The Friars improve to 10-13 on the season while the Peahens dropped to 11-14. The 10 wins marks the first time since 2000 that the Friars have recorded a double-figure win total. After dropping the first two games to the Peahens and facing elimination, Providence rallied back and took a 30-28 win in game three. Providence would never trail in game four and evened the match at two games a piece with a 30-22 win. In the fifth and deciding game, Providence jumped out to a 7-2 lead. Saint Peter's fought hard but could only bring it within two as they fell short once again giving the Friars a come from behind victory 3-2 with a 15-12 win. Sophomore Jeanette Toney (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led four Friars in double-figure kills with a career-high tying 24. Toney has now recorded 24 kills on three occasions this season. Sophomore Sara Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) recorded a match-high 60 assists and added 13 digs for a double-double. Freshman Jess Storer (Wantagh, N.Y.) had 15 kills and 19 digs, also good for a double-double. Sophomore Aida Cadres (Los Angeles, Calif.) added 12 kills, 12 digs and four blocks in the come from behind win. The Friars return to action at home on Wednesday, October 18 when they will host Quinnipiac at 6:00 p.m. in Mullaney Gymnasium.
