STONY BROOK, NY - Sophomore Ayana Cadres (Los Angeles, Calif.) recorded a combined 28 kills in matches against St. Francis (N.Y.) and Bucknell and was named to the All-Tournament Team as Providence Volleyball competed at the Holiday Inn Express Tournament hosted by Stony Brook.

The Friars were defeated by St. Francis (N.Y.) 3-0 (29-31, 26-30, 25-30) and Bucknell, 3-1 (30-28, 19-30, 25-30, 28-30) on Saturday at the SBU Sports Complex. With the losses, Providence drops to 0-6 on the season.

Cadres notched 14 kills on 36 attacks for a hitting percentage of .194 in the St. Francis match. She found more success against Bucknell, converting 14 kills on 29 attacks for a hitting percentage of .310.

The Friar defense was led by freshman Rachel Tucker (Burleson, TX) who recorded 17 digs in the St. Francis match. Senior Sandy Fanning (E. Amherst, N.Y.) had 15 digs in the Bucknell match.

Providence will open its home season on Tuesday, September 10 against Holy Cross in Mullaney Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m.
