The Providence College men's indoor track team competed at the IC4A Championships this past weekend Saturday, March 3 and Sunday, March 4 at Boston University. The women's indoor track team competed at the Reggie Lewis Center for the 2007 ECAC Championships. Freshman Hayden McLaren (Christchurch, New Zealand) won the 1000m in a time of 2:25.55 edging out the second place finisher by .03.

Sophomore Katie DiCamillo (Garden City South, N.Y.) placed second in the 5000m on Saturday at the ECAC Championships. She finished in a time of 16:19.12 qualifying for next weeks NCAA Championships. Fellow sophomore Danette Doetzel (Macklin, Sask.) came in right behind Katie, finishing in third place. Doetzel completed the race in 16:27.79, also qualifying for the NCAA's. Senior Meghan Owen (Danielson, Conn.) qualified for Sunday's final of the mile running the prelims in 4:47.74. With this time she also qualifies for the NCAA's. She ran the mile finals in 4:56.84 placing her seventh. Freshman Breffini Twohig (Dublin, Ireland) finished eighth in the 3000m at 9:41.81. Junior Michelle Childs (Cameron, Ont.) placed 15th in the 3000m in a time of 9:53.94.
 

 

Junior Ahmed Haji (West Hartford, Conn.) placed 10th in the 3000m finals in a time of 8:14.87. Michael Anderson (Ajax, Ont.) completed the 3000m in 22nd place in a time of 8:32.40. The 4x800 team of junior James Lourenco (West Warwick, R.I.), junior Chris McDermott (West Haven, Conn.), sophomore Nick Berluti (Westwood, Mass.) and junior Mike Blanchard (Gatesferry, Conn.) qualified for the finals in seventh place with a time of 7:39.07. They ran the finals in 7:41.72 finishing in 6th place. Senior Nick Weidman (Sudbury, Mass.) finished the mile prelims in 13th with a time of 4:13.09 but failed to qualify for the finals.

Both teams will be back in action on Saturday, March 9 and Sunday, March 10 at the NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, Ark.
