Men's and Women's Track Compete at the Mt. Sac Relays - April 15, 2005

WALNUT, Calif. -- The Providence College men's and women's outdoor track teams each competed at the Mt. Sac Relays on April 15 in Walnut, Calif. In the 1,500 meters, freshman Max Smith (Dunedin, New Zealand) won the university open division in a time of 3:47.58. Senior Liam Reale (Hospital, Ireland) placed 16th in the olympic development division in a time of 3:46.16. Both runners qualified for the NCAA Regionals. In the 10,000 meter invitational race, junior Martin Fagan (Mullingar, Ireland) finished eighth (28:59.89) and earned an automatic qualifying time for the NCAA Championship. Senior Pat Moulton (Pelham, N.H.) finished in 29:11.81 (13th) and junior Joe Dionne (Oshawa, Ontario) placed 19th in a time of 29:27.05. Both runners earned a NCAA provisional qualifying time. On the women's side, the Friars were led by senior Mary Cullen (Sligo, Ireland) who placed second in the 10,000 meter invitational in a time of 32:57.61 to qualify for the NCAA Championship. In the 1,500, junior Fiona Crombie (Christchurch, New Zealand) placed 12th in the olympic development division in a time of 4:23.58 and qualified for the NCAA Regionals.
