Worcester, MA - The Providence College softball team split a non-conference doubleheader at Holy Cross, losing 1-0 in game one and winning game two, 5-1, on Tuesday, April 9 at Holy Cross' Freshman Field.

In game one, freshman Michelle Greene went the distance for HC scattering just six hits and striking out five enroute to her first career shutout. Cori Van Dusen (Riverside, Calif.) took the loss for Providence, as the sophomore pitched 7.2 innings and allowed just four hits and one run while striking out nine batters.

In game two, PC freshman right-hander Nicole Bartholomew (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) gave up just four hits and stuck out nine to pick up her team-leading seventh win, snapping Holy Cross' three game winning streak. Bartholomew, also added a hit, a run and two RBI's to help her cause. Jean Connolly accounted for the Crusaders lone run of the game when she hit her second homerun of the season in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Friars return to action on Thursday, April 11th when they host the University of Rhode Island Rams in a non-league doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m.
