Softball Shutsout Robert Morris, 2-0, For Second Win Of Season
March 5, 2002 The Providence College softball team won its second game of the season as freshman Nicole Bartholomew (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) pitched a complete-game shutout victory as the Friars defeated Robert Morris University, 2-0. Providence scored both of their runs in the bottom of the sixth inning against the Colonials, as a pair of singles by freshman catcher Ashlee Weatherford (Woodland, Calif.) and Van Dusen and a sacrifice by junior outfielder Sarah Morin (Westerly, R.I.) set up run-scoring singles by Bartholomew and junior Melissa Peterson (Huntington Beach, Calif.). Bartholomew pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing five hits while striking out five batters. The Friars complete the Rebel Games on Wednesday, March 6th when they face Gardner-Webb University and Holy Cross.
