The U.S. Olympic Hockey Team defeated Germany, 10-0, in the opening game of the XIX Olympic Winter Games on Tuesday, February 12 in West Valley City, Utah.

Four former Friars figured in the 10-0 victory over Germany. Chris Bailey (1994, Marietta, N.Y.), Laurie Baker (1997, Concord, Mass.)and Cammi Granato (1993, Downers Grove, Ill.) all recorded one goal and one assist each. Goaltender Sara DeCosta (2000, Warwick, R.I.) stopped all eight shots she faced to earn the shutout.

The U.S. Olympic Women's Hockey Team returns to action on Thursday, February 14 as it faces China at 6:00 p.m. (EST).
