It was announced on Monday, January 29 that sophomore goaltender Danielle Ciarletta (Blaine, Minn.) was named the Pure Hockey Defensive Player of the week by the HOCKEY EAST Association. Ciarletta helped the Friars to a 2-2 tie at No. 4 New Hampshire on Sunday, January 28. Ciarletta made 40 saves in the game, including four in overtime to preserve the tie.

The one point gained from the tie represents the first point earned by a HOCKEY EAST opponent at the Whittemore Center in Durham, N.H. since the Friars tied UNH at the Whittemore Center on February 26, 2005. The Friars return to action next weekend as they host the Catamounts of Vermont for a two game series. The games will be held at Schneider Arena on Saturday, February 3 and Sunday, February 4. Both games are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. starts.
