PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College senior forward Karen Thatcher (Douglas, Mass.) was named Women's HOCKEY EAST Player of the Week on January 16, 2006.

Thatcher led Providence to a 1-0-1 week as she poured in six points on three goals and three assists against the Minnesota State Mavericks on Saturday and Sunday, January 14-15. On Saturday, Thatcher netted two goals in the 3-3 tie versus the Mavericks at PC's Schneider Arena in Providence, R.I. On Sunday, Thatcher had a hand in four goals as she posted one goal and three assists in the 6-2 win.
