PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College women's ice hockey team moved back into the national spotlight with a tenth place ranking in the USCHO.com Division I Women's Poll this week. The Friars are coming off a 2-1 week with a 2-1 win over No. 7 Princeton (1/2/06), a 6-4 win over Niagara (1/7/06), and a 5-2 loss to No. 6 Mercyhurst (1/8/06).

HOCKEY EAST foe, New Hampshire (145), moved up to the No. 1 position for the first team this season. Wisconsin (134) moved up to No. 2. while St. Lawrence (118) fell to the third slot.

Providence College will host Minnesota State Mankato on Saturday and Sunday, January 14-15 at PC's Schneider Arena. Faceoff is schedule for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Friars are 2-2 all-time versus the Mavericks. Providence's last win over Mankato was a 4-2 victory at the All Seasons Arena in Mankato, Minn. on February 19, 1999.
