PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College senior forward Jennifer Chin (Norwood, Mass.) was named BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player of the Week in field hockey, for the week ending Sunday, September 8. The announcement was made by the BIG EAST Conference office on Monday, September 9.

Chin led the PC field hockey team to a 2-1 record last week with two goals and two assists. On Wednesday, September 4, she assisted on the game-winning goal to defeat Rhode Island, 2-1, in Kingston, R.I. On Saturday, September 7, Chin scored the Friars' lone goal in a 2-1 overtime loss to Fairfield University in Fairfield, Conn. She capped off the week with one goal and one assist in a 4-1 victory over Sacred Heart on Sunday, September 8 in Fairfield, Conn. Chin leads Providence College in scoring with eight points on three goals and two assists, raising her career totals to 39 points, 17 goals and five assists. A native of Norwood, Massachusetts, she is the daughter of Walton and Carol Chin.

The Providence College field hockey team currently holds a 3-2 overall record through the first five games of the 2002 season. The team will travel to Holy Cross on Wednesday, September 11 to take on the Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. in Worcester, Mass.
