ANN ARBOR, MICH. - The Providence College field hockey team was defeated, 3-0, by No. 10 Iowa on Sunday, September 15 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, as part of the BIG EAST/BIG Ten Challenge. The Friars held the Hawkeyes scoreless through the first 63 minutes of play before Iowa rattled off three-straight goals to earn the victory.

Tiffany Leister led Iowa with two goals. Leister's first goal was unassisted and came 63:11 into the game off of a penalty corner. She connected on her second goal of the game two-minutes and 10-seconds later (65:21) on another penalty corner, assisted by Lauren Edwards and Lindsay Miller. Pattie Gillern netted the Hawkeyes third and final goal of the day with 2:05 left to play.

Junior goalkeeper Meaghan Moran (Framingham, Mass.) recorded two saves for Providence College. Barbara Weinberg stopped four shots in goal for Iowa to earn the shutout.

Providence (4-4) will host Albany in their home-opener on Friday, September 20 at 3:30 p.m. The game will be played at Hendricken Field on the campus of Providence College.
