Piscataway, N.J. - The Providence College women's basketball team fell to Seton Hall, 61-55, in the first round of the BIG EAST Conference Women's Basketball Championship on Saturday afternoon in Piscataway, N.J. The Friars entered the 12-team tournament as the No. 8 seed, while the Pirates entered as the No. 9 seed.

Freshman Michal Epstein (Rehovot, Israel) led the Friars with 10 points. Sophomore Ryan Kilgore (Belleville, Mich.) tallied nine points and a career-high four assists in the loss.

The Pirates were led by Simona Burgess, who scored a career-high 13 points. Charlene Thomas and Ashley Bush scored 12 points each in the win.

Providence finishes the 2001-02 season with a 13-15 overall record. Seton Hall advances to the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Tournament, and will face No. 1 seed Connecticut on Sunday, March 3 at 2:00 p.m.
