BOSTON, Mass. -- The Providence College men's and women's indoor track teams competed at the New England Championship on February 27-28 at Boston University. The men's team finished in 4th-place, while the women's squad took 25th-place.

The men's team was led by sophomore Martin Fagan (Mullingar, Ireland), who won the mile in a time of 4:07.02. Classmate Joe Dionne (Oshawa, Ontario) also was a first-place finisher as he took the 3,000 meters in a time of 8:14.29. Freshman Darren Brown (Spring, Texas) took the top spot in the 1,000 meters as he finished the race in 2:26.89.

In the 800 meters, junior Liam Reale (1:49.81) of Hospital, Ireland and sophomore Richard Jones (1:49.82) of Wellington, New Zealand finished third and fourth, respectively. In the 5,000 meters, junior Patrick Moulton (Pelham, N.H.) placed second in a time of 14:25.44.

The women's team did not have its full squad, but still scored five points. Junior Katie Twarog (Albany, N.Y.) finished fourth in the 3,000 meters in time of 9:49.88.

Both teams will compete on March 6-7. The women's team will compete at the ECAC's, while the men will be in action at the IC4A's.
