SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Providence College men's indoor track team competed at the BIG EAST Championships on February 19-20 in Syracuse, N.Y. Senior Liam Reale (Hospital, Ireland) led the Friars as he captured the 1,000 meters.

As a team, the Friars placed eighth for the second consecutive season. Reale's time of 2:24.58 led him to his first BIG EAST crown. In addition, he qualified for the IC4A's on March 5-6. In a close race, junior Richard Jones (Wellington, New Zealand) took second-place in the 800 meters in a time of 1:51.79 as he also qualified for the IC4A's.

In the 5,000 meters, senior Patrick Moulton (Pelham, N.H.) placed fourth in a time of 14:29.52, while junior Joe Dionne (Oshawa, Ontario) took seventh-place (14:36.21) to qualify for the IC4A's. Freshman Ahmed Haji (West Hartford, Conn.) was PC's highest finisher in the 3,000 meters, taking eighth-place in a time of 8:29.02.

Sophomore Darren Brown (Spring, Texas) and freshman Max Smith (Dunedin, New Zealand) placed fourth and eighth, respectively in the mile. Brown recorded a time of 4:13.41, which is an IC4A qualifying time, while Smith ran a time of 4:15.22.
