Men's Track After Day 1 At BIG EAST Indoor Track Championship

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Providence College men's track team scored six points and is tied for eighth place of 14 teams after the first day of competition at the BIG EAST Indoor Track Championship at Syracuse University in Syracuse, N.Y. on Saturday, February 16. Providence scored all six of its points on the first day of competition with a third-place finish (10:03.10) by the distance medley relay team of freshman Liam Reale (Hospital, Ireland), junior David Wickman (Jefferson, Mass.), senior Hamish Thorpe (Auckland, New Zealand), and freshman Dylan Wykes (Kingston, Ontario). The 5,000 meter final also was run on the first day of competition. Senior Dermot Galvin (Kilrush, Ireland) was PC's top finisher in the race as he placed ninth (14:37.55). Junior Tyler McCabe (Mystic, Conn.) finished 11th (14:43.48) in the 5,000 and freshman Patrick Moulton (Pelham, N.H.) placed 12th (14:46.07). In the 1,000 meter preliminaries, Thorpe ran the fastest time of the day as he completed the race in a time of 2:26.57.
