Men's Swimming and Diving Sinks Saint Michael's, 142-97

BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Providence College men's swimming and diving team (3-6) knocked off Saint Michael's College, 142-97, Saturday afternoon in action in the Green Mountain State. The Friars won 10 of the 14 events at the meet in posting their highest dual meet total of the season. Senior captain Matt Raske (New Rochelle, N.Y.) won the 1000-yard freestyle with a first-place time of 10:56.20, while junior captain Frank LaMonaca (Cheshire, Conn.) won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.59. Junior classmate Seth Brockman (Kenner, La.) won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.17.
Sophomore Andrew Zockoff (Dover, Mass.) won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.56, while junior captain Nick Taylor (Devonshire, Bermuda) won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:16.51. Brockman also won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:31.64, while Zockoff also won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:05.85. Freshman Ryan Barnicle (Newington, Conn.) won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.28, while sophomore Brian Confrey (Glastonbury, Conn.) won the 200-yard backstoke with a time of 2:13.93. PC's 200-yard medley relay team also finished first with a time of 1:44.70. Providence men's swimming and diving returns to action Friday, Feb. 18 as begins the Metropolitan Conference Championships.
