MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The Providence College men's soccer team closed out the regular season with a 3-0 loss at No. 20 West Virginia Friday night in a BIG EAST Conference match in Morgantown, W.Va. With the loss, the Friars finished in fourth place of the BIG EAST Blue Division with a 9-6-2 overall record and a 5-4-2 mark in the BIG EAST. West Virginia finished one spot ahead of the Friars in third place with a 12-5-1 overall mark, including 7-3-1 in league action.

Andy Wright gave the Mountaineers all the scoring they would need in the 39th minute when he took advantage of a rebound volleyed in in his fifth goal of the season. Jason Bristol added to West Virginia's lead in the 61st minute, while Paul Paradise sealed the win in the 86th minute.

Zach Johnson stopped both shots he faced to earn the shutout for West Virginia, while junior Timothy Murray (Haverhill, Mass.) made five saves for the Friars, whose season-long five match unbeaten streak came to an end.

The Friars are back in action on Wednesday, November 7 when they play Cincinnati in the BIG EAST Championship First Round at PC's Glay Field. The time will be announced on Sunday, November 4.
