Final Stats

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team defeated Siena in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action, by a score of 10-6 at the Friar Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex on Saturday, April 28. The Friars, who clinched a spot in the MAAC post-season tournament for the seventh-straight year, were led by graduate student Michael Farley (Westfield, N.J.) and senior Mark Bundra (Winnetka, Ill.). Farley tallied four goals, while Bundra had two goals and one assist. Providence finishes the regular season with an overall record of 5-9 and a MAAC record of 5-3. Siena drops to 10-5 overall and 7-1 in conference play.

The Friars dug themselves an early hole allowing Siena to score the first two goals of the game. The Friars answered with two goals of their own to even the game, 2-2, at the end of the first quarter. Providence continued their scoring run at the beginning of the second quarter when Farley, Bundra and senior Henry Pynchon (Ipswich, Mass.) each registered a goal to give the Friars a 5-2 lead. Siena battled back scoring two goals before heading into halftime. Providence held a 5-4 advantage at the break.

Freshman Ryan Duggan (East Setauket, N.Y.) scored his second goal of the game at 6:13 in the third quarter to pull the Saints even at 5-5. Farley responded with two-consecutive goals on assists from senior teammate Brendan Ryan (Chatham, N.J.). Providence had a 7-5 lead after three quarters of play.

The Friars took a commanding lead in the fourth quarter scoring three unanswered goals. Sophomore Bobby Labadini (Westford, Mass.), Ryan and Bundra each tallied a goal in the quarter. Siena scored a late goal in the fourth, but Providence would prevail by the final score of 10-6.
 

 

Providence senior goaltender, Peter Littell (Upper Montclair, N.J.) went the distance, saving 13 shots and earned the victory.
