Final Stats
EMMITSBURG, Md. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team was defeated at Mount St. Mary's, 10-6, in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opener for both teams on Saturday, March 19 in Emmitsburg, Md. With the loss, the Friars fell to 1-4 overall.
Six different Friars scored in the game, including senior midfielder Dan Giuntini (Floral Park, N.Y.), who recorded his team leading 10th goal of the season. The Friars trailed, 4-1, after the first quarter of play, but came back with three unanswered goals in the second quarter to force a 4-4 tie at haltime. However, Mount St. Mary's took control of the game in third quarter as they scored five consecutive goals and kept the Friars off the scoreboard. Providence held a 2-1 scoring advantage in the final quarter.
Matt Warner scored four goals to lead Mount St. Mary's to its first win of the season.
Senior goalkeeper Andrew McMinn (Pittsburgh, Pa.) registered 12 saves for the Friars.
The Friars will to action against Hartford on March 22.
