PC Hockey To Play New Hampshire In Hockey East Quarterfinals

PC Hockey East Quarterfinal Notes Vs. UNH in PDF Format PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College men's hockey team will play the fourth-ranked New Hampshire Wildcats in a best-of-three Hockey East quarterfinal series, beginning on Thursday, March 8 at 7:00 p.m. at the Whittemore Center in Durham, N.H. It will mark the third time in four years, including the last two seasons, that PC and UNH will meet in the Hockey East Quarterfinals. The second game is Friday, March 9 at 7:00 p.m. and if a third game is necessary it will be on Saturday, March 10 at 7:00 p.m. All games will be played at the Whittemore Center. The Friars (10-21-3 overall, 9-15-3 Hockey East), winners of their last three games, finished the regular season in eighth-place (21 points) in the league, while the Wildcats (23-9-1, 18-7-2 Hockey East) captured the Hockey East regular season title with 38 points. It marked UNH's sixth Hockey East regular season crown. The Friars have a 1-2 record against the Wildcats this season. UNH captured the first two meetings, which were both played at the Whittemore Center. The Wildcats posted a 2-1win on January 27 and a 6-4 triumph on February 23. However, the Friars registered a 7-1 win over the Wildcats on February 24 at Schneider Arena. Overall, PC outscored UNH, 12-9, in the three games this season. Last season, the Wildcats captured the season series with a 3-1-1 record, including a 2-0 mark in the Hockey East Quarterfinals. UNH eliminated the Friars from the Hockey East playoffs with a 2-1 double overtime win in the second game of a best-of-three series.
