PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College men's ice hockey senior forward Drew Omicioli (West Warwick, R.I.) was named HOCKEY EAST Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, January 28 by the league. Omicioli shares the honor with University of New Hampshire forward Josh Prudden.

Omicioli scored four goals on the week for the Friars (12-12-3 overall/7-7-1 in HOCKEY EAST play) leading PC to a 3-0-0 week and back to the .500 mark.

The senior rightwinger scored three game-winning goals last week and added two assists for a six-point week. On Tuesday, January 22 Omicioli scored the game-winner to give the Friars the 16th annual Mayor's Cup title. It was Omicioli's second career Mayor's Cup game-winning goal, as he scored the game-winner as a freshman on January 12, 1999. Omicioli also assisted on sophomore defenseman Regan Kelly's (Imperial, Sask.) third goal of the season in the Brown game.

On Friday, January 25, Omicioli scored PC's fifth goal, which turned out to be the game-winning goal in Providence's 6-4 victory over Boston College. On Sunday, January 27 at BC, Omicioli scored the Friars' third and fourth goals in a four-goal second-period outburst, giving him his third game-winner in three games. Omicioli also assisted on junior co-captain Devin Rask's (Parkside, Sask.) 11th goal of the season.

On the year, Omicioli has totalled 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points in 26 games. He has one power-play goal, which he scored at BC on Sunday, and has a pair of short-handed tallies. Omicioli has a +8 rating on the season and has four game-winning goals, which leads the team.

The Friars return to action this weekend, playing at Northeastern University on Friday, February 1 at 7:00 p.m. PC also plays at UMass Amherst on Saturday, February 2 at 8:00 p.m.
