PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College men's basketball coach Tim Welsh announced on June 21 that student-athlete Charlie Burch (Dorchester, Mass.) has enrolled in classes and is currently attending summer school at Providence College. Burch, a freshman, is eligible to play for the Friars in 2004-05.

Burch, a 6-6, 218-pound forward attended Tabor Academy in Marion, Mass., the last three years. In 2004, Burch averaged 19 points and 11 rebounds per game. In his junior season at Tabor, Burch earned league MVP honors and helped Tabor win the New England Class B title.

"We are excited to have another New England player with an impressive academic background join our program," Welsh said. "Charlie has spent the last three years playing in an excellent prep school league. He also has played for a strong AAU team, the BABC. All this experience has helped him become a high-level player."
