PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College men's basketball coach Tim Welsh announced on Tuesday, April 17 that student-athlete Jamine "Greedy" Peterson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Providence College beginning in September 2007.

Peterson, a 6-foot-6-inch, 215-pound forward played for Head Coach Bill Barton at Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Mass., this season. He averaged 12 points and nine rebounds while helping Notre Dame to a 32-3 mark. He also helped Notre Dame capture the Prep School national title in 2007. He was named MVP of the Prep School Tip Off Classic in November. Prior to attending Notre Dame, Peterson played for Head Coach Ruth Lovelace at Boys & Girls High School in Brooklyn, N.Y. Last year at Boys & Girls High School, Peterson averaged 22 points and 15 rebounds per game.

"We are excited to have "Greedy" joining our program next season," Welsh said. "He is a high-energy, combo forward who can rebound and is a strong finisher. He played for the top Prep School in the country this year and he knows how to win."
