PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's basketball team tied a season-high with nine 3-point field goals en route to a 67-50 win on Dec. 4 at the Dunkin Donuts Center. With the win, the Friars captured their fifth straight game and improved to 6-1 on the season.

Freshman guard Dwain Williams scored 16 points in the second half and finished with game a career-high 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Sophomore guard Sharaud Curry led the Friars with nine assists

The Friars opened the game with an early 18-14 lead behind three 3-pointers, two of which came from Curry and the other from fellow sophomore guard Weyinmi Efejuku. In the first 12 minutes, Efejuku scored eight points on 3-5 shooting.

The Friars led by as many as eight, 28-20 with 4:47 left in the first half.

PC shot 64.7 percent in the first frame and picked up assists on nine of their 11 field goals. The Friars also held a 31-25 lead. The Stags converted just nine of 23 attempts and posted a 39.1 field goal percentage. Fairfields did post a 10-8 edge on the boards.
 

 

PC began the second half on a 12-4 run to take a 43-29 lead. During the stretch, Williams knocked down two 3-point field goals. Fairfield would answer with a 12-2 run to cut the Friar lead to 45-41.

Williams responded with two more 3-pointers to extend the Friars lead to 51-41.

PC finished the game shooting 9-14 from beyond the arc, Fairfield posted a 3-point shooting percentage of 18.2. In the second half, the Stags were held without a second half 3-point field goal.
