LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -Terrence Williams scored 23 points and had 12 rebounds as Louisville beat Providence 78-63 on Saturday.

Edgar Sosa added 20 points and four assists for the Cardinals (12-5, 2-1 Big East), who have won two straight conference games for the first time since joining the Big East last year.

The Cardinals led by as much as 16 in the second half, but had to fend off a pair of late runs by the Friars (12-4, 2-1). Providence closed to 57-51 with 4:46 remaining, but Brandon Jenkins and Williams hit back-to-back 3-pointers to push the lead to 12 and the Friars would get no closer than eight the rest of the way.

Herbert Hill had 23 points and 11 rebounds for Providence and Geoff McDermott added 11 points and 14 boards. The Friars committed a season-high 26 turnovers, leading to 39 points for the Cardinals.
