CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Senior pitcher Nikki Gasti threw her second career no-hitter in a 1-0 victory over host Charlotte in the First Pitch Classic on Sunday afternoon.

Gasti (Carmichaels, Pa./Carmichaels) improved to 2-2 on the season by shutting down the 49ers for seven innings. She walked only three batters while striking out eight. Gasti also threw a no-hitter in last year's Winthrop Tournament and is only one of two Pittsburgh pitchers to accomplish the feat in the program's history.

Pittsburgh (4-3) won its third game in a row in the process, scoring the contest's only run in the top of the fourth inning. After a leadoff walk to Ana Velazquez (Santa Ana, Calif./Santa Ana C.C.), she stole second and later scored on an RBI single by Kelly Hulpa (Washington, Pa./Trinity), who picked up her third RBI in two games and fifth of the season.

Catcher Tiffany White (Carlsbad, Calif./Palomar C.C.) had two of the Panthers' four hits, with Hulpa and Natalie Phillips (Utica, N.Y./Mohawk C.C.) collecting the other base hits. White also had the eight putouts from Gasti's arm to lead the team.

Gasti had at least one strikeout in six of the seven innings, and ended the game on a pop out to Velazquez at shortstop.

The Panthers will play the College of Charleston in their final game at the Charlotte First Pitch Classic at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
