TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-Florida A&M got one run in the third inning and made it last in topping the Panthers, 1-0, in the first game of the Seminole Invitational held by Florida State.

Pittsburgh's starting pitcher, Gina Bessolo (Lakewood, Calif./Lakewood), allowed just four hits and the earned run in five innings of work to pick up the loss and dropped to 1-4 on the season. She walked two batters while striking out five Rattlerettes. Junior Nikki Gasti (Carmichaels, Pa./Carmichaels) pitched a perfect sixth inning and had two strikeouts.

Ruby Nugent hit a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning for the only run of the game off of Bessolo. Tenyse Tasby went the distance for Florida A&M, allowing just three Panther hits and striking out eight in seven innings.

The Panthers got hits from junior transfer Ana Velazquez (Santa Ana, Calif./Santa Ana C.C.), freshman Casey Pickard (Newhall, Calif./William S. Hart) and junior Kelly Hulpa (Washington, Pa./Trinity).

Sophomore Beth Gill (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) picked up her ninth stolen base of the season after being hit by a pitch.

The Panthers (3-11) take on nationally ranked Nebraska in the second game of the Seminole Invitational on Friday at 4 p.m.
